John Gibilisco has been a part of Playhouse theatrical productions for almost 30 years. Originally from Omaha, John joined the Playhouse staff in 1988 and has served as both Resident Sound Designer and Master Electrician since that time. John volunteered at the Playhouse in the late 70s through the 80s and it served as the groundwork for his skills and passion for the technical theater.
John has designed lights and sound effects both nationally and internationally for the Playhouse and other theater companies. He has also consulted on large-scale projects for Midwest Sound and Lighting’s-Design Systems Group in Omaha and is part of Midwest Sound’s ASC Certified Technicians Group for Strand Lighting International. John was honored at the “2006 Omaha Entertainment Awards” for “Achievement in Lighting, Sound and Special Effects” for the Playhouse production of Swing! and the Theater Arts Guild’s “Best Sound Design” for Playhouse productions of Starkweather and Misery. John has also mentored and trained and placed apprentices into successful theatrical careers across the country through the Theatre Technology Apprenticeship Program.
John and his wife Mary Beth have two children, Christopher and Anna Marie.
