Beware of Brokers: Your Guide to Purchasing OCP Tickets

As a beloved local arts institution, the Omaha Community Playhouse is proud to bring high-quality performances to the stage for our vibrant community. We’re fortunate in that we continually reach new audiences who are drawn to the joy of live theatre and outstanding artistic work.

Our Season Ticket campaign is in full swing and soon we’ll open ticketing for our first two productions – The River Bride and Grease – for general sale. As we gear up for the start of our new production season, it’s a good time for a reminder that the Omaha Community Playhouse and Ticket Omaha are the only official online ticket retailers for our venue.

As you’re active online and search for info about OCP, you’ll run across sponsored ads and info from third party ticket brokers. They’re out there – in droves. Unfortunately, these brokers take advantage of patrons, may or may not be legit, and may not actually hold tickets for the event. Beware. Play it safe and only purchase OCP tickets from us directly or if purchasing online, through Ticket Omaha. These are the only two official avenues for legitimate tickets at legitimate prices.

What’s the Problem?
Ticket brokers and resale websites often charge highly inflated prices compared to our official ticketing platform. Some may sell fake or duplicate tickets. These sellers may look on the up and up but are not affiliated with the Omaha Community Playhouse.

Why It Matters
Buying from unofficial sources can cost you money, result in a poor experience, and offer no guarantee of seating. For example, we learned a patron attempted to purchase tickets for our 2025 production of A Christmas Carol from an online ticket broker for $180+ per ticket. Two problems here:

• The tickets are grossly inflated. We don’t sell tickets to our season productions at this price point. Not even close.
• As of this writing, tickets for A Christmas Carol are not yet on sale. This broker simply doesn’t have these tickets in their inventory.

How to Stay Safe When Purchasing Tickets to OCP Shows

• Always buy your tickets from the Omaha Community Playhouse online, by phone, or in person. Ticket Omaha is the official online retailer for OCP. Once you select “Buy Now” for a specific production, you’ll be taken to the Ticket Omaha website to make your transaction. You may also go directly to the Ticket Omaha and search for OCP shows to make your purchase.
• If you have questions about the legitimacy of a website offering tickets, call the OCP Box Office directly at (402) 553-0800 and speak to a Box Office representative. We’re happy to help and assist in any way.
• Be wary of sites that appear first in search results, but do not link directly to our website or to Ticket Omaha, or sites with “Sponsored” next to the search result. You may also notice ticket pricing options along the right side of your screen with various prices from various sources. This is a big red flag that these are brokers.
