Extraordinary Theatre, Crafted Here

Former NTC Director + Former Company Manager

Lara Marsh, former NTC director and long-time Omaha theatre practitioner, has been deeply involved with A Christmas Carol both on and off the stage. Over the years, Lara has coordinated the national tours of the production for the Nebraska Theatre Caravan while also managing the Apprentice Program at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Her work spans stage management, directing, and production coordination, bringing to life the intricate logistics and behind-the-scenes artistry that make each performance seamless. Lara’s experience includes managing large touring companies, coordinating apprentices, and ensuring every technical detail is executed flawlessly, skills she has honed over years of work with Opera Omaha, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, and the Omaha Fringe Festival. Her vision and leadership have helped shape A Christmas Carol into the enduring, magical experience it is today, guiding countless young artists as they step into their first stage roles and fostering a sense of family and community that defines the production.

Rick Scott has been equally instrumental in shaping the legacy of A Christmas Carol. He served as Road Manager for the 1989 Midwest tour of the Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s production and then as Managing Director from 1995–2001, producing and casting 18 different productions of the show. Each year, Rick oversaw 42-member companies, including actors, technicians, and musicians. He was apart of tours that spanned the East Coast, Midwest, and West Coast. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, he loved casting multiple actors for each role, ensuring that every performance was filled with energy, precision, and heart. Rick fondly remembers the joy of watching opening tableaus come to life and the thrill of moments like Susanni’s sparkler finale, where the audience’s applause coincided perfectly with the fading sparks. Under his guidance, every cast became more than a company; they became a family, sharing the excitement of the holiday season while bringing Dickens’ classic story to audiences far and wide.

Together, Lara Marsh and Rick Scott embody the spirit, dedication, and artistry that have made A Christmas Carol a beloved tradition for generations. Their commitment to excellence, mentorship, and storytelling ensures that each performance continues to inspire, delight, and bring communities together, keeping the magic of the season alive year after year.
