Accessibility at the Omaha Community Playhouse

Omaha Community Playhouse is committed to creating an accessible and welcoming theater experience for all patrons. Accessibility services include wheelchair-accessible seating, assistive listening devices, audio-described performances, ASL-interpreted performances, sensory accommodations, and Relaxed Performances designed to support a variety of audience needs.

Accessible Seating & Wheelchair Accommodations

Both the Howard & Rhonda Hawks Mainstage and Howard Drew theatres are wheelchair accessible. Please contact the OCP Box Office to arrange wheelchair seating accommodations at least 24 hours in advance of the desired performance.

Hearing Accessibility & Assistive Listening Devices

Both theaters are equipped with assistive listening technology through an infrared sound system. Complimentary headsets are available through the OCP Box Office for patrons who are hard of hearing. Guests with hearing aids equipped with a T-Coil may also request compatible listening devices to enhance audio during performances.

Audio-Described & ASL-Interpreted Performances

Audio-description and ASL interpretation are offered for select performances.

Sensory-Friendly Accommodations & Relaxed Performances

Complimentary sensory kits are available through the OCP Box Office. A designated quiet area is located in the Scott Lobby outside the Howard & Rhonda Hawks Mainstage Theatre for patrons who may need a break from sensory stimulation during a performance.

Relaxed Performances

Select productions include Relaxed Performances, which provide a more flexible and welcoming theater environment for individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, dementia, or other accessibility needs. Modifications may include adjusted sound and lighting levels, a more relaxed audience environment, and the freedom to move in and out of the theater as needed.

Requesting Additional Accessibility Support

To request additional accommodations (such as physical needs, supports for neurodivergent individuals, or other concerns), please contact the OCP Box Office.
