About: The OCP Community Engagement Council aims to further the dialogue with Omaha performers, creatives, and backstage communities to ensure we’re continuously working to manage and exceed community expectations, address our challenges, and invest in a culture of belonging, transparency, and accountability.
These efforts were initially conceptualized as part of our DEIA priorities and our aim is to create a space for direct, ongoing conversation with diverse voices that represent all parts of the Omaha theatre community.
The Council will involve members of the Omaha performing arts community, and patrons of the Playhouse in dialogue with OCP to better understand opportunities and challenges from the community perspective, ensuring that OCP productions are better representative of the community we serve and foster inclusivity and diversity both on and offstage.
September Update:
Based upon the initial submission process and response from over 50 community members, OCP is currently reevaluating the position of the council so that we can best serve the needs, challenges, and opportunities presented. We will continue to provide updates and we greatly appreciate your patience.
Next Steps:
All council applicants will be invited to a collaborative forum, which will be moderated by a local community leader. This will provide an opportunity for OCP to listen, learn, and devise a concrete plan and goals for the work ahead.
