OCP @ Your School

In an effort to bring accessible theatre experiences to the youth of Omaha and surrounding areas, OCP has launched OCP @ Your School – a series of workshops designed to fit your classroom’s unique needs.

Whether you have an English class wanting to explore storytelling, an ACP class wanting to try something new, or a P.E. class wanting to try a new form of movement – these workshops are for everyone!

Workshop descriptions below will include accessibility information, as well as space needs, and the number of students the workshop can serve at one time.

Workshops for Elementary

Acting Adventure | In this workshop, students will use their bodies to go on an imaginative journey in search of buried treasure. Students will be broken up into groups of explorers & elements. This program is flexible for students of all abilities and for a variety of spaces. (45 minutes) (Available for K – 2nd) (Cap at 30 students)

Musical Theatre Workshop | In this workshop, students will learn about storytelling through voice and movement. Students will learn a portion of a musical theatre song & choreography from our talented teaching artist staff. This program is flexible for students of all abilities and for a variety of spaces. (45 minutes) (Available for K – 5th) (Cap at 30 students)

Oodles of Doodles: Crafty Costume Design | In this workshop, students will study the art of costume design. Using recycled materials and our imaginations, every student will end the workshop with a creation of their very own from concept to drawing to final product. This workshop is flexible for students of all abilities and for a variety of spaces. (45 minutes) (Available for K – 5th) (Cap at 30 students)

Behind the Scenes | In this workshop, students will work in groups to design costumes, sets, makeup, and a show poster for a classic story with a twist. This workshop is flexible for all abilities and spaces. (1 hour) (Available for 3rd – 8th) (Cap at 30 students)

VROOM! Mobile Sensory Theatre: Sensory Exploration | This workshop is created specifically for neurodivergent students and/or students with disabilities and can be adapted to meet your classroom needs. Students will be invited to engage in sensory play and creative movement inspired by VROOM! productions. This workshop is flexible for a variety of spaces. (30-45 minutes) (Available for K – 5th) (Cap at 10 students) Learn more about VROOM! here.

Workshops for Middle School

Musical Theatre Workshop| In this workshop, students will be taught a musical number from one of Broadway’s biggest hits! Students will be taught music and choreography, with a final focus on acting the song through both mediums with the full body. While scheduling, teachers will be able to choose the song for their students from our list. This workshop is flexible for all abilities and will need ample space to move around. (1 hour) (Available for 6th – 12th) (Cap at 30 students)

Ace Your Audition | In this workshop, students will learn the ins and outs of auditioning, from audition posting to post-audition. Individuals will also have the opportunity to workshop their pre-prepared audition pieces and receive feedback. There is an optional dance audition portion that can be added at the time of scheduling where students will engage in a mock-dance audition. This workshop is flexible for all abilities and spaces. (1 – 2 hours) (Available for 6th – 12th) (Cap at 30 students)

We will focus on making bold choices, creating high stakes, and understanding our characters’ objectives and obstacles. This workshop is flexible for all abilities and spaces. (1 hour) (Available for 6th – 12th) (Cap at 30 students)

Workshops for High School

There is an optional dance audition portion that can be added at the time of scheduling where students will engage in a mock-dance audition. This workshop is flexible for all abilities and spaces. Improv | In this workshop, students will be exposed to the “Rules of Improv” and engage in multiple exercises and games to put them into practice. We’ll focus on making bold, and grounded character choices, as well as quick-thinking and telling a full story. (1 hour) (Available for 6th – 12th) (Cap at 30 students)

Stage Combat Workshop | In this workshop, students will learn the basic rules & movements for stage combat. We’ll explore falls, stage slaps, and pushing – all in a safe, controlled environment. This workshop is heavily movement-based, but it can be adapted for groups of all abilities. This workshop also requires adequate floor space. (1.5 hours) (Available for 9th – 12th) (Cap at 30 students)

Investment

  • During your workshop, two to four teaching artists will facilitate all activities.
  • OCP @ Your School will supply all needed materials.
  • Based on your chosen workshop, the amount of space your school needs to provide will vary.
  • At least one teacher, para, or school staff member will need to be present for the full workshop time.
  • Once your booking survey is received, a staff member will reach out to schedule your workshop & go over any and all details to make your classroom’s experience the best it can be!
